The risk is the urologist attached to the finger. A false positive exam is going to lead him to do nasty things, like a needle biopsy, for instance. If you like having needles stuck up your a$$, that’s one thing, but there are those of us who’d rather not.

The risk in digital exam is the failure of the inexperince examiner to detect or feel any enlargement or abnormalities of the prostate, while lab results from prostate specific antigen (PSA) cannot be interpreted as absolute evidence of the presence or absence of malignant disease. Range is 0.0 to4.0 ng/ml.Recommend having both exams.

As per the answer above, I’d think the risk would be in not having screenings - if you could link the news story, we might have a better idea.

There is no risk with digital or PSA screenings. It’s just a slow news day.
