The Prostate exam the doctor does checks for the prostate growing. Every man should have his PSA (Blood Test) checked when he reaches 50 unless a family member had prostate cancer then he should start at 40. The PSA sets a base line normally under 4. Then they monitor it every test if it jumps like mine did it indicates something is wrong. Mine went from 1.5 to 4.7 in 6 months. I had prostate cancer and I had no other symptoms. I was 59 when they found it.
